Awards & Accreditations

Proud to be RCVS accredited

New Priory Vets is a proud member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Practice Standards Scheme.

What is the RCVS?

We are proud members of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) Practice Standards Scheme. The accreditation is only given to practices that meet the high standards set by the RCVS and appropriate accreditation is the primary indicator of clinical excellence in the field of veterinary medicine.

Maintaining accreditation to this voluntary scheme requires continual investment and dedication as detailed inspections are carried out every 4 years, with spot checks in between.

Small Animal Veterinary Hospital Status

Our flagship hospital in central Brighton operates under the highest level of RCVS accreditation: Small Animal Veterinary Hospital status. To achieve and maintain this accreditation our hospital must continually demonstrate the following:

  • Ensure nursing staff are present on the premises round the clock, and a veterinary surgeon is available 24 hours a day to attend to in-patients, if required
  • Maintain and improve clinical standards by monitoring performance and the outcome of treatments
  • Provide a range of specialist equipment, such as ECG and ultrasound
  • Submit to rigorous examination of its premises and facilities, with emphasis on cleanliness and sterility

All our other services – including the comprehensive general practice services available via our Brighton and Peacehaven clinics, Brighton Veterinary Referrals and Priory Emergency Treatment Service (P.E.T.S.) – benefit from immediate round-the-clock access to our Brighton hospital facilities.

Gold Standard General Practice

Our Brighton and Peacehaven Clinics provide advanced general practice care for local pets.

Based within our accredited hospital, the Brighton clinic benefits from its highest level of RCVS accreditation:

Small Animal Veterinary Hospital status.

Our satellite clinic in Peacehaven is also recognised by the RCVS as delivering excellence in Small Animal Practice and may draw upon the additional services provided by the hospital when required.

Emergencies

Being accredited as an RCVS Emergency Services Clinic means we uphold the highest standards of care when it comes to dealing with emergencies and critical cases.

The dedicated team at Priory Emergency Treatment Services (P.E.T.S.) proudly holds this accreditation and also benefits from the same facilities as the Brighton hospital with its highest level of RCVS accreditation: Small Animal Veterinary Hospital status.

A dozen local practices are currently subscribed to P.E.T.S. If you’re a New Priory client this service is automatically available to you.

If you’re with another vet we highly recommend checking if they’re subscribed to this unrivalled emergency veterinary service, just in case.
